Wingate at West Springfield Testimonials

My mother came to Wingate at West Springfield with COPD and pneumonia, as well as a good dose of family skepticism about rehab centers. But her care was phenomenal – with loving employees, great communication, and concern for us too. When it became clear that comfort measures were the best course of action, Wingate provided us with little extras – drinks, snacks, blankets – to make us more comfortable as we sat with Mom in her final moments. And despite huge family support, many staff members sat with her too.

As Mom liked to say, she was “treated like a princess.” Thank you!

When my husband Maurice was hospitalized with pneumonia a few years ago, the doctor suggested he might benefit from a rehab stay. He declined, preferring to recuperate at home. But he didn’t get better-in fact, within days he was back in the hospital.

This time, Maurice decided to give rehab a try at Wingate at West Springfield. (This made sense for me too, since I cannot provide the physical care he would need at six-feet and 200+ pounds.) We quickly learned that a structured rehab program and medical care are crucial to a in the recovery process- so many things that just can’t happen at home.

Maurice’s care at Wingate at West Springfield was nothing but the best. Since I visited everyday, I was able to see first-hand how caring, helpful and friendly the aides were to him. The therapists challenged Maurice and even let me join him in “The Gym” when he was doing rehab. The social workers watched out for me too, making sure I ate lunch and then followed-up to check on Maurice after he came home.

Maurice came down with pneumonia again last fall. When he heard the doctor suggest rehab again, he quickly spoke up and said. “I only want to go to Wingate at West Springfield!”

We know we can count on outstanding care at Wingate and highly recommend it to anyone seeking short or long-term care.
