Harwich, Mass. — Wingate at Harwich, a skilled nursing community offering short-term rehab, long-term care and memory care to seniors, was recently awarded a Five-Star Overall Quality Rating by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. CMS uses a Five-Star Quality Rating System to compile and publish ratings of nursing homes on Nursing Home Compare, an online database that helps consumers evaluate more than 15,000 Medicare and Medicaid-certified nursing homes across the country.
“The staff’s due diligence and hard work is to thank for this recognition,” said Wingate at Harwich Admissions Director Lindsey Allard.
CMS awards nursing homes between one and five stars for three separate categories in its quality rating system: health inspections, quality measures and staffing. It then awards an overall quality rating based on the scores nursing homes received in the individual categories. Nursing homes that receive five stars are considered to provide quality high above average, and facilities with one star are considered to deliver quality far below average.
In addition to its Five-Star Overall Quality Rating, Wingate at Harwich received a five-star rating in the quality measures category for continually meeting residents’ physical and clinical needs. Wingate at Harwich also received a four-star rating in the staffing category for having a high ratio of registered nurses to residents and for providing residents with an optimal number of care hours each day.
Located at 111 Headwaters Drive, Wingate at Harwich provides traditional long-term care, short-term rehabilitation services, respite care and a specialized program for individuals with memory care needs.
