The Massachusetts Assisted Living Association honored Sandra Auld, a receptionist at Wingate Residences at Norton, with the 2019 Care and Wellness Excellence Award during the organization’s annual Excellence Awards Dinner on Tuesday, May 14. Given to those who go above and beyond for their residents, the Care and Wellness Excellence Award recognizes individuals who provide compassionate care that demonstrates their passion for having a positive impact in their community. Auld was one of 36 nominees in the award category.
Although she did not have a background in the healthcare industry, Auld developed a passion for senior care when she became a primary caregiver for her mother. After her mother passed, Auld decided to dedicate her career to improving the lives of others and has since found a great fit at Wingate Residences at Norton. As the community’s receptionist, she is one of the first people to greet residents, families and team members when they arrive at the community.
Mass-ALA selected Auld for the 2019 Excellence Award because her presence at the community is encouraging, professional and thoughtful. Many residents have endearingly called her, “mom,” and she is nominated by residents and staff every month for being an outstanding employee, peer and support system.
Recipients of the annual Mass-ALA Excellence Awards are considered role models in their field and industry who embody the ideal qualities of a senior living professional today. Awards are presented to outstanding individuals each year across several categories, including Care and Wellness, Sales and Marketing, Dining Services, Facilities, Program Innovation and more.
