BREWSTER, Mass. — Four staff members of Wingate Residences at Brewster Place, an assisted living community owned and operated by Wingate Healthcare, recently received Certified Dementia Practitioner Certifications from the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners. The staff who completed the CDP certification include Executive Director Maureen Gardner, Wellness Director Linda McLellan, Marketing Director Tina Meilleur and social worker Kathleen Clouther.
To receive the certification, healthcare professionals must complete the NCCDP Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Care Seminar under the guidance of a certified Alzheimer’s disease dementia trainer, hold a current license or certification in a related healthcare profession and demonstrate comprehensive knowledge in the area of dementia care. In addition, they must continue to seek educational opportunities related to dementia care.
According to the NCCDP, “Certified Dementia Practitioner Certification is essential for today’s healthcare professional and front line staff as the dementia elderly population continues to rise.”
Recognized as the highest standard in Alzheimer’s and dementia education, a CDP certification not only enhances the credentials of healthcare professionals, but enables them to provide quality services to dementia patients and their loved ones.
Wingate Residences at Brewster Place, located at 855 Harwich Road, offers independent and assisted living in a classic Cape Cod setting.
