U.S. News & World Report names Wingate at Beacon a Best Nursing Home for 2017-18

BEACON, N.Y. — U.S. News & World Report named Wingate at Beacon, a local senior nursing facility, a U.S. News Best Nursing Home for 2017-18. The distinction was awarded to approximately 2,300 out of 15,000 nursing facilities rated by the publication. Of 613 senior nursing facilities rated in New York, only 84 earned a top rating.

“We are incredibly proud to have earned this distinction,” George Michaels, administrator at Wingate at Beacon, said. “Our team works diligently to provide exceptional care for our residents, who are our primary focus.”

To determine their rankings, U.S. News has developed a five-level rating scale that uses data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, a federal agency that sets and enforces standards for nursing facilities. In the individual standards, Wingate at Beacon received a top performing ranking of 4.5 out of 5 for medical care quality measures and an above average rating for staffing, which consists of overall facility staffing, including registered nurses and physical therapists.

In addition, Wingate at Beacon has received a five-star rating for the past two years from CMS.

Wingate at Beacon has provided short-term rehabilitation and long-term care for more than 15 years. The facility offers skilled nursing services, including post-acute and post-surgical care, respite and hospice care.
