Wingate at Silver Lake Receives American Health Care Association’s Bronze National Quality Award

Massachusetts Skilled Nursing Center Recognized for Commitment to Resident Care

July 6, 2015, Kingston, MA – Wingate at Silver Lake, a leading skilled nursing and rehabilitation center located in Massachusetts’ South Shore community, announced today its recognition as a 2015 recipient of the Bronze – Commitment to Quality Award for its dedication to improving the lives of residents through quality care. Wingate at Silver Lake was one of three Wingate Healthcare facilities recognized this year in Massachusetts.

The award is the first of three distinctions possible through the National Quality Award Program, presented by the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL). The program honors centers across the nation that have demonstrated their commitment to improving quality care for seniors and individuals with disabilities.

“I’m incredibly proud of our staff’s commitment to quality care and receiving formal recognition of this dedication by AHCA/NCAL,” said Elinor Black, Administrator at Silver Lake. “The Bronze Quality Award is a great honor for our community, and we’ll continue to work to provide the high level of care that our residents expect.”

Wingate at Silver Lake is a 164-bed skilled nursing facility bordering the shores of Silver Lake and Forge Pond. The facility’s knowledgeable and compassionate staff provides specialized short-term rehab and long-term care customized to fit the needs of each individual. Wingate at Silver Lake is recognized for its secured Dementia Care Unit in which a specialized program is facilitated by a highly trained team to support the needs of those living with Alzheimer’s, dementia, or other cognitive challenges. Part of a full continuum of care campus, Wingate at Silver Lake also offers Assisted and Independent Living at the Wingate Residences.

“Wingate at Silver Lake has demonstrated its commitment to providing quality care and I commend them for that,” said the AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Board of Overseers Chair Christine Boldt. “I encourage Wingate at Silver Lake to continue their quality journey by striving for the Silver and Gold levels.”

About the National Quality Award Program

Implemented by AHCA/NCAL in 1996, the National Quality Award Program is centered on the core values and criteria of the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program. The program assists providers of long term and post-acute care services in achieving their performance excellence goals. Wingate at Silver Lake was one of 545 centers to receive the Bronze level award. The award will be presented to Wingate at Silver Lake during AHCA/NCAL’s 66th Annual Convention and Exposition, October 4-7, 2015, in San Antonio, Texas.

The program has three levels: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Centers begin the quality improvement process at the Bronze level, where they develop an organizational profile with essential performance elements such as vision and mission statements and an assessment of customers’ expectations. Bronze applicants must also demonstrate their ability to implement a performance improvement system. Trained Examiners review each Bronze application to determine if the center has met the demands of the criteria. As a recipient of the Bronze – Commitment to Quality Award, Wingate at Silver Lake may now move forward in developing approaches and achieving performance levels that meet the criteria required for the Silver – Achievement in Quality Award.

The awards are sponsored by AHCA/NCAL Associate Business Members My InnerView, by National Research Corporation and PointRight.
