PROVIDENCE— The Rhode Island Department of Health awarded Wingate Residences on the East Side with a deficiency-free status after conducting its latest annual survey at the senior living community.
An industry measure of quality, all Rhode Island assisted living facilities are subject to an annual survey. During unannounced visits, surveyors from the Department of Health assess compliance with state standards of care, including staffing, quality of care and cleanliness. The assessment includes a detailed review of records and interviews with residents and families to cover an array of potential quality issues. Wingate Residences on the East Side was found to be in compliance with state regulations in all categories, a distinction that reflects the community’s high standards of quality care. With increasingly stringent regulations, achieving high ratings can be difficult. These surveys and the subsequent ratings are useful tools for prospective and current residents, their families and health care practitioners to make informed choices about the quality of an assisted living facility.
