PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Wingate Residences at Melbourne Place has named James Burden dining director. Burden is a former executive chef for Mission Restaurant Group and a former food service officer for the United States Coast Guard.
Burden began his dining career with the coast guard, learning the practical applications of cooking, procurement, sanitation and operational readiness. “The rigid discipline made for a great foundation to a long culinary career,” Burden said.
Burden has worked in upscale culinary settings throughout Massachusetts, including Jacob’s Pillow, Brix Wine Bar, Mezze Bistro and for Mezze Catering. In his free time, Burden volunteers for his church’s Cathedral of the Lawn, a regular sermon and luncheon gathering, preparing meals for attendees.
Born and raised in New England, Burden and his wife reside in the Berkshires where he uses his real estate license to improve the local landscape through the promotion of local farmers and growers.
